The SAVE YOUR SPACE petition was created by The Friends of MySpace*, a membership organization based in Orange County, California, in response to bill HR 5319 submitted by U.S. Representative Michael Fitzpatrick in May 2006. The petition benefits all users and operators of social networking, blogging and chat room sites. What started out as a simple petition created by one user group has turned into a movement supported by a coalition of organizations and individuals fighting for your rights to access and express yourself on the Internet.

We invite any organization to join the SAVE YOUR SPACE coalition and ask for help in telling the media, the U.S. government and the public about the importance of social networking, blogging and chat room sites.

The mission of The Friends of MySpace* is to provide opportunities for users of social networking sites to:

1. Positively affect government and social policy within our respective countries
2.

3. Interact with other members through national, regional and local networking and social events
4.

5. Provide educational opportunities to help members improve their personal, professional and overall social networking experience

Since the petition started, we have been supported by hundreds of individuals who believe in your rights to access and express yourself on the Internet. We are asking that all users of social networking, blogging and chat room sites sign this petition, not just those that use MySpace.com.

This is an issue that affects everyone.

*We are not owned, operated or affiliated with MySpace.com or the News Corporation in any way.

On n’en sait guère plus.
